Also known as “What makes a good book or a bad book?”
A few radical statements:
- There is no such thing as “the perfect book”. No book will ever be everything for everybody, nor should we expect them to be.
- There is no such thing as a bad book.
- What is considered a good book today is very different from what was considered a good book two hundred years ago.
Therefore, what is considered a “good book” is based solely on the tastes of the individual reading it.

For the next few weeks I’m going to have a series of posts on related topics of what supposedly is and isn’t appropriate for fiction. Generally there’s a spectrum involved, a “tolerance level” so to speak, that ranges widely with people’s tastes. So, let’s explore, shall we? Feel free to comment at your leisure.
