Book Fashion and Marketability Series

Also known as “What makes a good book or a bad book?”

A few radical statements:

  1. There is no such thing as “the perfect book”.  No book will ever be everything for everybody, nor should we expect them to be.
  2. There is no such thing as a bad book.
  3. What is considered a good book today is very different from what was considered a good book two hundred years ago.

Therefore, what is considered a “good book” is based solely on the tastes of the individual reading it.

For the next few weeks I’m going to have a series of posts on related topics of what supposedly is and isn’t appropriate for fiction. Generally there’s a spectrum involved, a “tolerance level” so to speak, that ranges widely with people’s tastes.  So, let’s explore, shall we? Feel free to comment at your leisure.
